# Compress image to an exact size

> Compress an image online free to the exact KB or MB a form needs: 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or any size, with presets for SSC, PAN, UPSC and CPNS. No upload.

## How it works

1. We binary-search the highest quality that fits under your limit, so the picture stays as sharp as the limit allows.
2. If even low quality is too big, we shrink the pixel size step by step instead of making the image blocky. Portal presets with fixed pixel sizes keep those exact pixels.
3. If a portal sets a minimum size and the image is too simple to reach it, we pad the JPG with an invisible comment.
4. EXIF data such as GPS location is removed by default. Batches download as a ZIP.

## Questions

### Is my photo uploaded?

No. Decoding, resizing and compression run in your browser on this device. Open DevTools and watch the Network tab while you compress.

### Why is my 50 KB file shown as 48.8 KB?

Portals disagree on whether 1 KB is 1000 or 1024 bytes. We stay under 50 000 bytes so the file passes either way.

### Are the portal presets official?

Each preset lists its source. Presets marked "check notice" come from guides rather than an official page, so compare them with your notification.
