Blur faces in photos and videos
Faces are found for you, then blurred, pixelated or covered with a black box. Keep any face visible with one click, add your own boxes, and get the result without location or camera data.
How it works
- A small face detector (YuNet, about 230 KB) runs in your browser and marks every face it finds. Big group photos are also scanned in tiles, so faces at the back are found too.
- Click a box to keep that face visible, or drag on the picture to cover anything the detector missed: a name badge, a number plate, a child in the background.
- In videos, faces are found on frames a fifth of a second apart and followed between them, then every frame is covered and encoded again on your device. Audio is kept.
- Photos keep their format and full resolution. Location, camera and date tags are removed from the result.
Questions
Are my photos or videos uploaded?
No. The detector and the video encoder run in this tab. The only download is the detector itself, once; after that it works offline.
Can a blur be undone?
Not this one. The face is shrunk to a handful of pixels before it is smoothed out, so there is nothing left to sharpen back. For the strongest cover, choose the black box.
What if a face is missed?
Turn on the thorough scan for small or distant faces, or simply drag a box over it. In a video, a box you draw covers that spot for the whole clip.
Which files work?
JPG, PNG and WebP photos, many at once (they download as a ZIP), and MP4, MOV or M4V videos your browser can play.
