PDF to text converter
Get all the text out of a PDF as a plain .txt file, page by page. Keep the column layout if you like; scanned pages are read with OCR. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- The text layer of each page is read in reading order, with a marker where each page starts.
- With "Keep the layout", words are placed with spaces where they sit on the page, so tables and forms stay readable in a plain-text editor.
- Pages without a text layer are detected, and you can read them with OCR in 25 languages.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened by your browser and the text is extracted on this device.
Why is the text of a scanned PDF empty?
A scan is a picture of a page; there is no text in it until OCR reads it. Press "Read with OCR" when Nibbo finds such pages.
Can I turn off the page markers?
Yes. Then pages are separated by a form-feed character, which many editors and printers treat as a page break.
